Reclaim Energy worked with the Waikato University to install four hot water heat pump compressors and three hot water cylinders to deliver the direct hot water supply for building nine of the student’s village on campus.
This installation will see a 75% reduction in energy used for hot water supply and involved cascading multiple systems to meet the requirement for larger hot water loads. The system was designed with redundancy and resilience in mind, and if one part of the system requires repairs the other compressors or cylinders can remain in use. For maintenance, there is no requirement to interrupt the services to the residents of the halls. The system delivers direct hot water for four bathrooms and keeps up to the demands of up to 24 students who love their hot showers.
